About Us

Our History

Ernest J. Vastine, Sr. established Valley Wholesale Foods, Inc. in 1973 with the hopes of supporting his growing family. He started with a small building, a small box truck and very little product. In the beginning he mostly serviced bakeries. Going door-to-door selling sugar, flour and shortening, he would take the customer's order and then deliver it right off the truck. As the years went by, there became more competition. Because Ernie’s competitors had more products to offer, he had to look for new ways to be competitive. Offering more product lines seemed to be the answer to his competition. In the years to come Ernie added more dry foods, canned foods, and frozen foods. As he embellished on his accomplishments he added to his business, so did his competitors. He had to find a way to survive. The key to survival was to differentiate his company from his competitors. Ernie wanted to offer a service that was hard to match by his competitors. As Valley Foods grew, so did the type of service he needed to offer. In Ernie’s vision he wanted his customers to understand that they were his soul purpose of doing business. He strived to make things better and to offer his service on a customer-based level.

Today, Valley Foods has grown in leaps and bounds.  As a service  Valley puts every product away for their customers, no matter how big or small the order. Our sales staff calls on each customer in person every week no matter the size of their establishment. Our sales staff also takes the customers anything they need before the delivery truck reaches them. And at Valley Foods we understand how important it is to talk to somebody in person when you call our office. Therefore we have not installed any type of automated answering service. Everyone in our office answers the phone and takes your call personally. Our service is a goal. With every new accomplishment we continue to set the stakes higher. As Valley Foods continues to grow, we intend to be the best we can at providing service to the people who mean the most to us…our customers. We like to look at it as "our family...feeding your family."

The Family of Valley Foods is our best asset.  We are caring and compassionate about what we do.  In large part, our success is due to our people and our customers.  We sincerely thank each of our employees and our customers for their kindness, friendship and loyalty over the past 35 years.
